Assistant Insolvency Manager

Job type: Full time/Permanent

Location: Remote with project travel

Role Purpose in more detail

  • To lead and line manage the BABR “non-contentious” Insolvency team and ensure that the teams’ insolvency cases are progressed compliantly and commercially.
  • To work with the Groups central functions and build positive internal relationships:
    to spot opportunities for improvements within insolvency team.
  • To be an ambassador for BABR internally and externally.

Portfolio & Case Management

  • Managing a caseload themselves with a focus on non-contentious cases where we have a large case volume.
  • Being involved in ‘complex’ case work depending on where the volume is on both case categories/own development.
  • Managing their team of administrators and their own portfolios of cases.
  • Monitoring and directing the progress of cases of own and their team’s cases.
  • Actively managing case progression of the team’s cases incorporating strategy, progression and closure (delegating to team as appropriate).
  • Formulating, reviewing and adapting strategies for case progression and liaising with the office holder.
  • Providing recommendations to IPs for sign off.
  • Reporting into the Lead IP on cases to ensure strategy is agreed and matters are raised/escalated as appropriate.
  • Monitoring job WIP and costs to budget, with reference to expected fee.
  • Case review sign off and comments/action points.
  • Being involved in pre-appointment strategy meetings with Directors as and when appropriate depending on the nature of the case.

Training

  • Identifying training needs within their Insolvency Team.
  • Liaising with Compliance Lead to ensure robust internal technical and compliance training delivery.
  • Improvements and amendments to standard documents and policies, alongside the IPs and leadership team.
  • Review and propose training and professional qualifications for team members.
  • Involved in presentation of internal training where appropriate .

Team Management

  • Responsible for their own team’s team structure and workflows.
  • Effective distribution of cases amongst team.
  • Identifying needs within their insolvency team e.g. recruiting requirements and organising same via HR and Marketing channels.
  • Review and approval of all emails, letters, reports etc within their team up to level of IP approval.
  • Conducting team meetings and management meetings, providing agendas and taking minutes.
  • Attending and input into their team’s case management meetings.
  • Attending case strategy meetings and working with onboarding team to put case strategies in place for cases which will move into their team where necessary.
  • Where cases are of a more complex nature and the “complex” case team have capacity, recognise this and move cases there. 
  • Ensure ongoing effectiveness of the team through monitoring process, workflow, engagement, knowledge and overall well-being.
  • HR matters for their team incl. Holiday approvals and monitoring.
  • Timesheet authorisation.
  • Conducting meetings in IP absence.
  • Review and monitoring of monthly productivity figures.
  • Acting as Mentor to others as required .
  • Put forward ideas/make suggestions to improve the overall performance of the firm.

Business Development 

  • Attending networking events on behalf of the firm .
  • Representing BABR at other functions.
  • Blog contributions.

General skills required 

  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Teams. 
  • Advanced knowledge of IPS and Virtual Cabinet. 
  • CPI qualified.
  • Strong numeracy skills with min Grade “C’ or 6 at GCSE level .
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills (written and verbal).
  • Confident telephone manner – Liaising with directors and stakeholders by telephone.
  • Access to full remote working set up including strong internet connection and space for dual monitors.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to work well under pressure.

Experience required 

8+ Years Insolvency experience with a proven track record of managing your own portfolio of cases from cradle to grave. 

You must have the right to work in the UK.
